Its working principle is mainly based on the rotational motion of the screw, which heats and melts the plastic raw materials and extrudes them through the mold to form the desired product. 1、 Feeding and preheating
Firstly, add plastic particles or powder into the feeding port of the extruder through a hopper. A heater is installed below the feeding port to heat the plastic and gradually melt it into molten plastic. During this process, plastic particles gradually soften and become a flowing molten state.
**2、 Rotation and mixing of screws**
The screw begins to rotate, pushing the molten plastic forward from the feed port through the screw's spiral groove. During the rotation of the screw, not only is the plastic pushed forward, but also the molten plastic is uniformly mixed. This mixing process ensures the uniformity of plastic quality and avoids quality issues caused by uneven plastic composition.
**3、 Extrusion and Forming**
As the screw rotates, the molten plastic is pushed to the discharge port of the extruder. Here, molten plastic forms the desired product shape through the design of the mold. The shape and size of the mold determine the shape and size of the final product, therefore the design of the mold is crucial.
**4、 Cooling and Curing**
The extruded plastic product will enter the cooling system and rapidly cool the molten plastic through a cooler. This process rapidly solidifies the molten plastic and maintains the desired shape. The design and efficiency of cooling systems have a significant impact on product quality and production efficiency.
**5、 Cutting and collection**
The plastic products that have been cooled and solidified will be cut into the required length through a cutting device. The cut products are collected or packaged through conveying devices for subsequent processing and use.
**6、 Transmission and Control**
The transmission system of a single screw extruder usually consists of an electric motor, reducer, and bearings, providing stable rotational power and required torque for the screw. During the extrusion process, stable screw speed is required to ensure uniform and consistent product quality. Meanwhile, according to different production needs, the screw speed can be adjusted to meet the production requirements of different materials or products with different shapes.
In addition, the single screw extruder is equipped with a heating and cooling system to ensure that the plastic reaches the required temperature conditions during the extrusion process. The heating device provides enough heat for the plastic to melt, while the cooling device ensures that the extruded product quickly solidifies and maintains its shape.
