Due to the puffing process, the protein in the raw material of the dog food is combined with the starch matrix, so it is not easy to lose nutrients when feeding. The protein is released only when the digestive enzymes in the animal body decompose the starch, which increases the potency of the protein. For ruminants, puffing produces rumen non-degradable protein, that is, rumen-passed protein, which can avoid ammonia poisoning in animals and improve protein utilization.
